About Us
Janette Pfertner, owner of Miss Janette's began her cake business in 1991 and is now a Master Decorator and Sugar Artist. She sold retail cake and candy supplies to other decorators in addition to teaching classes and baking cakes. In 2000, Janette decided to devote her talents to specialize in wedding and sculpted cakes. She has taken classes from recognized sugar artists from around the world including: Eleanor Reinlander of South Africa, Carolyn Wanke, Texas, Carol Faxon, Maine, Jo Ellen Simon, Nebraska, Nicholas Lodge of England, and Collette Peters of New York, in addition to others.
Miss Janette has won numerous ribbons for her outstanding cakes in competitions. She was awarded a gold metal from the United States Pastry Alliance in 1999. AWEC awarded Miss Janette's the Most Valuable Vendor Award in 2001.
Miss Janette was a former ICES State Representative to Texas. She was also the Director of the Texas State and Cake and Sugar Art Show 2000 and 2002. Miss Janette has served as a cake show judge as well as a cake decorating and sugar art instructor. Miss Janette is also a member of the British Sugar Art Guild.
A Note from Miss Janette
The Wedding cake is more than just dessert, it is a sugar art centerpiece that sets a tone for the reception. It is my goal to make sure every cake is baked and decorated specifically for the tastes of the Bride and Groom. Quality and service are assured whether the cake is simple, elegant, elaborate or whimsical. Miss Janette's limits the numbers of cakes we will decorate every weekend so that even the smallest detail will be achieved. I would like to invite Bridal Couples getting married in the Austin, Texas area to make an appointment for a consultation.
Cake decorators: You are invited to join ICES (The International Cake Exploration Societe)
www.ICES.org Many of the techniques I have on the web site and in my portfolio have been learned through the generosity of other ICES decorator friends. You may ask, "why do we share?" Well, we figure we can only do so many cakes-can't do them all ...so we share our ideas and love of sugar art with others.
